I have been able to create a network, access and share files between a
desktop (XP) and laptop (Me) over a wireless home network, using the XP home
networking wizard via an install disk created on the desktop and installed
on the laptop.
I know it worked because I accessed the files on the desktop from the
laptop, and I printed from the laptop through the desktop.
But I did not want all the files to be accessible, so I deleted one folder
from the network. Now, all of the files on the desktop (shared and unshared)
are read-only, and I cannot unset the read-only setting for anything.
Is there a way to completely disable home networking, so I can have it back
to the way it was two days ago? I tried the Windows System Restore, but that
didn't do it.
Any ideas?

I deleted the "Documents and Settings on desktop" icon from the network
places.
Looking through windows explorer, nothing is currently shared (nothing has
the hand underneath), but everything is read-only. And if I try to unset
read-only, they are still set as read-only.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I just tried something interesting:
In change WIndows Firewall Settings, I made file & printer sharing an
exception. Now the files aren't read-only (my indicator is the absence of a
warning window when I open MusicMatch Jukebox), but the folders are.
Odd.

Not really. The folder option Read Only is actually greyed out,
indicating that this setting isn't applicable. Don't worry about it.
When you allowed File & Printer Sharing in the Windows Firewall as an
exception, you unblocked the local area network access.
