You may be able to recover the files with an 'undelete' program, so long as
they haven't been overwritten. Try the following programs:

I can't answer that since you have provided no information about your
computer and what you've done. I use professional data recovery
software in my business, but that's probably overkill for you. If a
client's hard drive is damaged and data needs to be retrieved I suggest
sending it to DriveSavers.
I haven't used any of the free undelete programs. Lots of people have
reported good results with Restoration and R-Studio. Try one and find
out for yourself.
