I have had trouble getting oobeinfo.ini to work. There is very little
information on when it used. After searching for a couple of days I
think I have it.

The oobeinfo.ini file is used to customize the Welcome Windows (OOBE)
stage. That we know. What I didn't know is that if you use
unattendswitch=yes, then you can bypass the OOBE and the used of the
oobeinfo.ini. I set unattendswitch=no and the userids I wanted created
in oobeinfo.ini were created.

Can anyone confirm that this is how things work?

Thanks,
Tim

hi,

are u talking about the factory and reseal methodeo of deployement.?
also the switch -msoobe?

I have only been researching unattended installs for a few days. I am
not aware of those options or methods. I maintain serveral computers
with different hardware so I thought that unattended install
(winnt.sif) was the best way to go.

Yes thats the correct way when you have different hardware and deployement
strategy. By curiosity I was looking for such information you mentionned and
did not get more that what you said. But as I have never heard before about
that option i will have a look more closer and let you know if I have
something more

Lets keep in touch here

This is the method I used, but it never picked up the accounts I
listed. It doesn't comment on if the unattendswitch is yes or no.
Something else I found is that it may be that oobeinfo.ini can exist in
either the ...\system32 or ...\system32\oobe.

Tim

The oobeinfo.ini should be copied to %windir%\system32\oobe

The UnattendSwitch is used to bypass Windows Welcome which would also bypass
processing of the oobeinfo.ini.

To have users created you should have the following in the oobeinfo.ini:

[UserInfo]
Identity000 = "UserName Goes Here"
Identity001 = "UserName Goes Here"
