Am using windows XP Home, Have loaded all critial updates,
and internet explorer 6 sp1, am getting some strange
issues.

1) windows update site cannot be viewed (say's done in the
status bar, but nothing is displayed)

2) issue #1 goes for hotmail aswell (msn.com is ok)

3) help -> about in internet explorer has no information
regarding cypher strength or program version

4) attempting to view what services are running (under
computer managment) (extended tab) just shows a white
screen with a blue square in the top left. but the
standard services appear to display OK.

5) Nothing is displayed in users, (control panel applet)
but a forwards and backwards arrow up the top.

I have followed most of KBID # 813444, except for
* system restore
and
* create a new user

anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

Hi Shaun,

Are you having a problem where sites say that you're not
running the latest browser? That's the problem I'm
running into, and I'm begining to think it's a bug in IE
6, or in one of the update patches I've applied.

After reading your email, I tried just to view the
Hotmail webpage (I don't have an account there), and I'm
also not able to view that page at all - same
message "You must be using IE 4 or higher to view this
site". Duh, I am.

Hi SassyS,

I get no messages at all, just a blank screen, and the
word 'done' in the status bar(?)

I tell you I am seeing heaps of similar problems since
about 2 or 3 weeks all related to loading critical updates.

Another problem i have found is that when i attempt to
start media player, i get an extremely descriptive
error : 'an internal error has occured', and MP quits out.
