Can any please advise on why on my new pc - recently networked to another 2
(older ones - all running XP) suddenly will not display or open up a windows
explorer window - ie you click on "my computer" etc from start option - the
screen flickers, goes to a blank desktop then returns to whichever window is
open before trying to open Win Explorer. I also cannot open control panel to
try to resolve this as suggested by another Win XP help site. Help! I need to
be able to transfer files and folders over the network and this is a major
blockage!

Thanks

Yes - getting a dos screen? what do I need to do next? I think I may have a
clue also to why this has happened - from a MESH support forum. Apparently
the Belkin Network kit automatically installs a 60 day trial of
Symantec/Norton Security and it has been known that this can really mess up
certain operational gubbins in XP - ie loss of control panel access and win
explorer management. One victim of this says that he had to call Symantec
support and was charged £18 for someone to press a few buttons via remote
access to re-programme the defective "parts". I don't think that is fair
when it's their software that causes the problem! If anyone knows about how
to get around this please let me know. I hasten to add that I did not install
my network system - a mate did and had I been aware that Norton was part of
the package I would have done a custom install and not used Symantec. Not a
fan!

Cheers!
