Over several years using Abode Reader etc. has never been troublesome until I up-graded to 'Windows XP HOME'.
I now have on seperate files both Acrobat 5.05(or 8) and acrobat 6.01 also. It has always been quite simple to get the earlier 'Abode' systems working quite simply.

But now I find I am unable to uninstall either of these programs which I desire to run so as I can re-install either of them (I prefer Abode 5.01 0r .08) I do not favour Abode 6.01 as other people I know do not seem too keen on it.

Can anyone assist me with this problem please?

Thank you,

Yours Sincerely,

Arthur J Todd

PS I have used computers and HAM Radio for a long time but I'm stymied at the moment.

The company's name is ADOBE, not ABODE!! LOL!! IIRC, 6 is the only version
that's truly XP compatible - what's the problem with it?

Both version 5 and 6 will work with XP. Version 6 is slower to load, but
offers a few more features. I have one version at home and the other at
work. In fact, I also have the full Acrobat version 4 at work with XP.

As for installing, download the latest self-installing executable from
Adobe, be sure that you are logged in as a person with full adminstrative
priveleges, then double-click the down and it should install.

If this does not work, report back the exact error message and when in this
process it happens.

To eliminate some questions, close all user programs, and your virus scanner
before atttmepting the installation. And, clear all temp files. You can
use the disk cleanup feature of XP to do this.
