I was trying to use the 6 floppy XP set up discs for fdisk; and formatting my
machine, and then after the 6th floppydisk was done I used the XP disc to
re-load platform. But recieved error on missing file.

Option A: Could it be that one of the files on the floppys was corrupted.
Since they are to be used when you can not boot from the CD-ROM Drive.

Option B: Since I was trying to remove XP from the drive I was following
steps in an article from microsoft on wiping XP from the drive I removed
some operating system files, and now I get NO NTLDR( similar) message. That
is why I used the floppy disc set.

Option C: Next effort is to change the boot sequence to cd-rom first and try
to clean install XP after fdisk and formating new partition.

How this started was I booted up and the floppy drive was gone, gone from
device manager, gone from my computer, probalyy shoud have left it that way.

Why didn't you use the XP cd to boot and then delete the partition(s) and do
a full format? The installer proceeds from that point and installs Windows.

Could be. Floppy disks have become notoriously unreliable. I only use them
when I have no other choice, and that's not very often.

Well, if you've removed system files, the operating system isn't going to
function very well. But that still shouldn't have been cause for resorting
to floppies....

Well, that's the easiest way to go about it, and would have been my first
choice. If I felt a need to format. Usually that's not necessary, but some
people like that option.

Your best be would have been to try to fix the floppy problem. What you've
done is akin to burning down your house because you have a leaky faucet. But
now that you've trashed the system, you might as well start over.

Depending on which files you deleted and what the original problem was, you
might be able to recover by running a repair install of the OS instead of
the format and reinstall. If you've got some time to waste, it might be
worth a try.
