This is one newsgroup that should know about such problems. I'd suggest
another one that should also know it:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup

To make sure Microsoft knows about the problem, try this site:

<https://feedback.windowsvista.micro...tp://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_vista_master>

Don't expect an answer from Microsoft, though.

I am not aware of SP1 causing any problems with Windows Mail.
As a beta tester I've been running SP1 for over 6 weeks already.
However, if you are not able to resolve this, try upgrading to
Windows Live Mail. It should automatically import all your WM
accounts, settings, and emails.

Thanks for the reply. The same thing happens with Windows Live Mail as well
as Outlook 2003, Gary

Any errir messages?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
