Unable to use functions within a Select Query

I am trying to create an Excel spreadsheet and it is failing with the error
"To Many Fields" but only on some machines. On the machines that fail the
query is failing to call 2 separate functions where the column is resolved
doing a lookup function within the query. These functions are not called and
simply display #Error in the column. I feel there must be an option setting
somewhere to allow functions but I can't find it. I'm using Access 2002.

Resolved -

To wierd - the 2 columns that were calling functions, I drug to the end of
the select list and that resolved the problem. Can anyone explain why? I
sure would be interested in the reason.
