Unable to Use ANY search engine

I have been unable now for a few day to use any search engines, It seems that I have no choice but to do an entire system restore from the resore CD. I have downloaded installed and run all crit pak updates, suggested updates, reinstalled IE6 BugDoctor, SpyBot, AdWare6, Norton AV2004, Kremlin System Sweep, I have gone to serveral links offered on this forum and retrieved these tools. I would like to know how to save MyDocuments, partition it off or copy it out, and if it is saved in a partition does the factory restore wipe it?
any more suggestions before I go medievil on my PC would be appreciated.
