hey

i keep getting an error when trying to create a new
database or open an old database in access (office xp).
i took 2 screenshots of the errors.
the first one pops up as soon as i try to create a new
database or open an older one.
the second one pops up after i hit ok on the first error.

the first error is here
http://xplar.coms.nu/AccessError1.JPG

the second error is here
http://xplar.coms.nu/AccessError2.JPG

my account is an admin account and i already uninstalled
office xp completley and reinstalled it.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanx

I could not read the second error in its entirety, since the filename indicated is not in
English. However, I did find a Knowledge Base article that might include the same error message:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=241230

This article was written for Access 2000. I did not find a similar article for Access 2002 (ie.
Office XP that you mentioned). However, I suspect that it applies equally well. Can you
translate for us the name of the file indicated in your second screen shot?

i have no clue what the file is on the second screenshot
that it is tryin to open.i have an english version of
office xp so i dont know why its comming up with a name
like that. anyways, i read that article and it says that
the problem is usually resolved by installing office SP1.
well, i did that and during the installation i got
another error.

here is a screenshot of this error
http://xplar.coms.nu/OXPSP1error.JPG

all i could find were articles applying to the actual
installation of office from the CD.

I found this KB article that might be helpful in solving this latest error. Although it mentions
Winword, it certainly appears to be related....

hey
thanks for all your hard work finding the articles and
all but i think that it is a problem with the way the OS
is set up. i use a program called O&O Defrag instead of
the windows disk defragmenter and i get a network error.
i think that its being caused by the same thing that is
causing my access trouble. i dont expect anyone to help
me with this since this is an acess forum so ill look
around for something that relates to this stuff

here is a screenshot of the O&O error incase you wanted
to see it.
http://xplar.coms.nu/OODefragError1.JPG

i am trying to run that prog on this machine so i know
something is wrong. i will probably just format the comp
if i cant get this fixed.
