Unable to Uninstall

I tried to remove a software program and received this message "InstallShield(R) setup launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close..." How can I "uninstall"

Can you perform an install? If so, follow with an uninstall.
Otherwise, there are manual methods but try this first to see if it
works since it is easier.

Knowing WHAT program might help since any other folks using the same
software might have experienced the same problem and found a solution.
