Unable to Start Windows

I wasn't sure where to post this question, but I'm having
a problem starting Windows XP. When I reach the welcome
screen and enter my password, it appears to log on as
normal and will show me my desktop background for about
two seconds. Then it goes straight back to the welcome
screen and says that it is logging off and saving my
settings before showing the login box again. This all
began when I was trying to remove some spyware off of my
computer by removing the folder
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{D848A3CA-OBFB-4DE0-
BA9E-A57F0CCA1C13} from the registry. Everything appeared
to be working fine until I rebooted.

So, my questions are as follows: 1) Is there any way to
restore this file without reformatting the computer? And
2) If not, can I enter the DOS prompt from the start-up
screen in order to back up my files before using the
recovery disk?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

google for bart pe

is program that will make a bart disk xp so you can load it up on your box
and work with the ntfs (dos wont access that fs but maybe you have fat32?)
you need a cd burner to make a bart and hence another computer.
otherwise you can just pull the drive and put in another box and get you
files and put the registry key back in.
reinstalling xp will get you to your stuff but the os is pretty much shot
then if you didanyfunny sp stuff or really anything is bad but then you just
format the drive and put some really great opensource software on there.
this key you mechanic'd is important but not unique on your box ;)

alternatively if you got a unix on hand pass a kernel image to a floppy or
usb key with mount root on nfs and then caddy the xp to off the valueble
files. thats how i usually requisition the datas before freeing disk space.
