and like i said it does this when tryin to run off cd as well. for the first
2 days after i can install whatever i need to driver wise and program but
after that i cant open anything. has anyone had this problem or know how i cn
fix it. having to clean install vista for 2 days use is such a pain.

What was the last program you installed that worked? That program is the
likely cause of your problem. Try a System Restore to a time before you
installed it.

ok ive only installed 2 programs. tuneup utilities 2007 and a game. ive done
a system restore to befor i had the problem. This did not change anything. I
have noticed something else while ive been messing with it. I can download
items to my desktop but when i select a fold under C:\ to download it to i
get the message
A required privilege is not held by the client. i went under user accounts
and theirs only the adman account and it has full control guest account is
turned off so not sure why i recived this messaged as well. maybe this will
help more

If TuneUp Utilities 2007 has a registry cleaner function, and you've used
that function, can you restore backups (undo's) that were created in TuneUP?

if you use the 1 click maintenance it does a short reg cleaner that doesnt
give you the option to save a backup. if you do the detailed one i think it
lets you save first.
ok so i ran the one click cleaner and in return i got the blue screen of
death. After it reboot though i tested downloading ventrilo and was able to
install it. not sure if it will continue to mess up when i reboot again but
for now it seams ok. not sure what the cause of this is.

The bottom line is that you should never trust a registry cleaner that does
not create a solid backup, prior to running. The registry is just way too
complicated and has too many different configurations for a utility to try
and delete what it considers unused, unneeded, or incorrect entries.

It is common problem in some people running Vista... It is concerning about
the UAC...
You can temporarily disable the UAC and got all of your stuffs to be
installed... and turn back on again the UAC...
If you don't want to turn off the UAC... Just put the executeable files or
the whole folder containing the software which you want to install into
C:/Program files/ or C:/Windows/ .... and you will see that everything will
run without any problem...

Hope it can helps...
