Upgraded from Home to Pro, and am now unable to setup an
internet connection. My only option using the new
connection wizard is for a broadband connection. The
dialup option is grayed out. HELP.... Anyone know to
reestablish that option.

Thanks, Guy

That support is for a network connection. What I need is
for the dial-up option using a modem. that portion is
grayed out when using the new connection wizard. Checked
out http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;320558&Product=winxp, but still didn't work. Tried
step one, didn't work. I'm a bit leary of trying step two
because I am unable to do the in-place upgrade do to a
lace of internet connection.

I had a similar problem in that the Inetwiz failed and New Connection
Wizard showed grayed out dial up options. Here's how I got it
working...

Click 'Start' then 'Run' then type 'msconfig' and press 'Enter' on the
'General' tab choose the 'Normal Startup' bullet to load all device
drivers and services and press 'Ok'. When the system reboots, all the
normal services and drivers will be running and it should function
properly (mine did).

You might also try System File Checker (SFC) to make sure the
essential Windows files are not corrupt/missing. If it was recently
working, try a 'System Restore' to restore the registry to an earlier
date.
