I can't send photos over 200kb through windows mail. I tried with web based
yahoo and was succesful. I am able to send small photos, under 200kb, but
anything larger than that I receive this messaage:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error:
10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I have made ms mail my default email program, allowed it to pass through on
my firewall and disabled the email scan on my virus protection program.

This started about a two weeks ago and couldn't find an answer, so your time
and patience is appreciated.

Ok, I did exactly that and the results were the same with the larger photos,
here is the error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F

I can send and receive small files, but nothing else. Any suggestions?
Your patience is appreciated

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee,Trend and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail
and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of
Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, I have disabled email protection, in
fact, I totally disabled my virus protection AND firewall. I then tried to
send a 400 kb file, a 800kb file and still get the same error message. the
green progress bar will get to about half or less and then freeze then the
error message.

I also made a test account and got the same results.

Patiently awaiting a solution.

You may need to remove your mail account and then add it back again after
disabling the antivirus software. Also some AV software you have to
uninstall completely. See the section on WinMail in point 3 here:

Ok, It was a bad modem, sorry for taking up space, but really for the first
time I have to compliment MS for assistance in a timely professional manner.

Thanks
