unable to send or retrieve messages from outlook express

Can someone help me.....

I'm a novice and is having problems retrieving and
sending messages from outlook express 6. I am receiving
the following error message, "The connection to the
server has failed. Account: 'incoming.verizon.net',
Server:'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E".

Please help....
