Unable to send messages from outlook

When I reply or send an e mail everything remains in my out box, and I get the following error message" "Unable to send the message. The server responded 550.5.00 access denied" What could this mean?

It could mean that you're not properly authenticating to your outbound
server. Open the properties page of your account, and choose the Outgoing
Server tab. Make sure you check the box for authenticatin gto the outbound
(SMTP) server.
