unable to send emails

I am unable to send emails. I keep getting prompts for my user name and
password, which I provide. I don't know what else to do. I'm unable to share
photos and other things because of this problem. Can anybody help?
 
Did you set up a valid mail account in Windows Mail?
Who provides your email service? Or to ask that question another way,
what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?
Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider. If you currently don't have an email address,
we can help with that also.

I am having problems with receiving incoming mail as well.

I see the port number for AOL outgoing is 587 but I can't seem to find the
correct port for incoming...

I have Vista, can you help?
