Unable to send attachments in Outlook 2002

I have a satellite connection and am now unable to send attachments to email
messages using O2002 or Express. Email without attachments will go and
incoming will arrive.

An error message 0x800CCC0F appears suggesting the server has been
interrupted. MY ISP says there server is working normally ... I've increased
the server timeout period in Outlook.

I've tried MS's workaround, Norton Security's workaround and still can't get
the bloody thing to work. Internet email using the same ISP via satellite
works fine.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Several things you could try depending on your setup
-disable any installed outgoing virusscanner
-configure your account to authenticate to your SMTP server
-make sure your firewall allows Outlook to use port 25
-reset your router and/or modem

Tips of the month:
-FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items anywhere from within Windows
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data

Thanks for your quick response to my query Roady.

My virus scanner had already been disabled for outgoing email and my
firewall allowed use of port 25. I configured my email client to authenticate
the SMTP server and bingo, it works.

What is surprising is that it was working previously without authentication,
but for some reason now it requires authentication.

My fix was short lived ... one message went with an attachment and now the
system is still blocking all email with attachments with the prexisting error
message.

Any other ideas?

Still sounds like a configuration issue regarding the authentication. Ask
your ISP what specific security settings they have set. Are your POP3 and
SMTP server the same?

You state you set your outgoing server to "Authenticate". I am running
outlook 2002 and can not find where this can be done. Can you relate what you
did so that I might try.

Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Select your account. Click Change, then
More Settings, then the Outgoing Server tab.

Brian,
Thank you for your reply. I follow your instructions and see what you refer
to till I get to "More settings tab" I don't have that tab. Is my program not
installed correctly?

I never said "More Settings tab". If you are running Outlook 2002 and click
File>E-mail Accounts>Next, select your accoung, click Change, you should see
a "More Settings" button toward the lower right of the dialogue box. If you
don't see one, it may be because of the type of accout you're using. What
kind it is? HTTP (i.e., Hotmail), IMAP, Exchange or POP?
