Unable to see some links

I am using XP Home and am refraining from installing SP2 for the time being.
However I have a problem with opening some links in IE6 and wonder if this
might be rectified after installing SP2. If I double click on a link
although the little green squares light up and move rapidly left to right in
the bar to show that the link has loaded nothing appears. Sometimes if I
right mouse click and choose " open link in a new window" it then appears,
but not always. Obviously there is something wrong with a setting and it
seems like overkill to install SP2 hoping it will sort this problem when I
would prefer to get it sorted first. Any ideas please.

Run this edit line, 260 left side.
