I am unable to see any mail in any of my saved or active folders folders,
which I know is still there as a few random times I am able to see it and the
"in box" indicated new mail

Show all mail has been selected and no changes have been made when I do
rarely see my mail

Thanks for the quick response, just checked and all folders have already been
selected. Still can't see any messages

Your problem could be caused by your antivirus program.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee or
Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Thanks for all of the advice, however Gary that method sounds quite scary,
think I would have to look for another option, have too much faith in Norton
to do that, would have to get their solution first.

I also tried your first option, no success. What I did do was to move a
recently created folder and not sure if it indicates anything but I was able
to see the mail for a brief two minutes or so and then they disappeared
again. This applies to some imported mail from the old computer as well.

Your second option is quite worrying.

Hi again Gary, I have just started reading the links that you sent sorry for
the quick response earlier but turning off anti virus is scary to me. I will
read them completely and will get back.

Nothing to be scared of.
Many savvy users run without any antivirus protection, which
is perfectly safe as long as you don't open suspicious attachments
or click on malicious links.

Download Avast.
Download either

or

Depending on whether you have Norton or McAfee.
Disconnect from the Internet.
Uninstall Norton or McAfee.
Run the appropriate uninstall program to finish the job.
Install Avast.
Reconnect to the Internet.

That should keep you safe and get rid of whichever of those harmful
anti-virus programs you were stuck with.
