You need to have an email program configured to send/receive email. And
that program has to be the default for the mailto protocol.
By default Vista assigns Windows Mail to be the default mailto handler.

i did that and signed up for it and it still wont let me. its asking me
questions like my outgoing server type and incoming server type....whether
pop3 imap or http. but i just got a windows live email.....so i dont know
what to put for that? please help...email answer to (e-mail address removed)

You can't access a Live email account with Windows Mail, unless you pay for
the Plus account, to get access to the POP servers.
You can access it with the newer Windows Live Mail.

If you have installed Windows Live Mail, the first time you run it, it will
prompt you to enter your email address. Do so, and it will automatically
complete the setup.
