I have one PC out of 15 that I cannot connect to to manage the event log. I
have compared the permissions in the registry (both the top level
permissions, and the level dealing with the event logs) with one that works
and cannot see any differences - how would one go about straightening out
the registry permissions - would a repair install do this?
Thanx,

What makes you believe it is due to registry permissions ?
What happens when you try ? What is in event log of the
machine you attempt to manage ?
Is the Remote Registry service running on the target machine ?

OK, the remote registry service is running. I can connect to the registry,
and have full control to the HKCR, but immediately get an Access Denied when
trying to access the HKLM or HKCU hives. I have checked the permissions on
those hives, and domain admins have full control, so I am completely
confounded. Even if I didn't have access to the levels below the hive, I
would think I would still be able to at least click on HKLM without getting
the Access Denied message!
