Hi, sorry for my bad english :-|

Excel 97 in Windows 2000pro sp4 +

if i use a standard user to record a macro (and link it to a button or a
bar) when i exit and then re-enter in excel, my macro, the button and the
bar is desappeared!

if i use an administrator or i give administrator rights, macro stays.

when i revert to standard-user, macro and customization disappears :-(

what can i do?
regedt32 ?
set privileges somewhere?

Thanks in advance for your time

solution found! :)
excel97 saves custom function for each user logged in win2000 in the system
dir, eg "windows" or "WINNT" in a "XLB" file.
the name of the file is <username>8.xlb ; for example:

standard user "harry" --> c:\winnt\harry8.xlb
user "james1" ----> c:\winnt\james18.xlb

simply give (or ask your admin to give) "full control" to that file to
"harry" user. It is not necessary to give full control to the entire
directory; you can leave untouched these authorizations.

i hope no one need this... but if you need... I hope this is useful to you.

:)

Now that makes sense now that you've discovered it. Thanks for reporting
the solution. Yes, Excel 97 goes back to the days when all users had full
rights. Ah, those were the days...
