Unable to read web pages with very small fonts

I am probably posting this at the wrong bulletin board but I don't know
where else to look. Lately I find that most websites changed to very small
fonts which in many cases are not readable. I changed to "clear type" but
with no better results. Is there any way those website fonts can be changed
to make them readable?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks, (e-mail address removed)

If you are using internet explorer, click on view and text size. Change to
largest. This won't change all fonts but will help a bit. .the other
option is to change the resolution of your monitor. If you right click
somewhere on the desk top and select properties. Click on the settings tab
and change the screen resolution to something like 800 x 600 pixels. This
may not work if you have a TFT monitor though.

Hopefully webmasters will get the message that they should provide an
alternative viewing option with larger text. Small text is not very kind
for persons with sight problems.

The problem is how to cram all of the information into an 800 x 600 display,
without requiring gratuitous scrolling. That's why higher resolution is
preferred, for those who can read it.

Internet Explorer font size adjustments are OK, but Firefox is easier. With FF,
you can instantly enlarge (or reduce) all fonts on a web page by holding down
"Ctrl" and hitting the "+" (or "-") key. With IE, you have a limit of 5 sizes,
and have to pick one at a time from the menu. With FF, you just hit the key
combination repeatedly, to make it even larger (or smaller) - I counted at least
12 sizes, total, available.
