I have had the same error message twice now when starting
windows xp home. it tells me it can't start because
registry can't be read and there was an IO error.
Rebooting seems to work OK.

I am worried that one day it won't reboot.

Does anyone know the cause of this problem?

Thanks.

Andrew

sounds like there may be a problem with your disk or disk
controller or the area of disk that the registry file sits
on.
I'd suggest that you backed it up right now, that way you
should be able to get it back if it does die.

The registry holds all of the important informatoin about
your system, if you lose it you basically have t rebuid
your PC from scratch.

I'd have someone check it out or buy a new disk, they are
not expensive and easy to fit if you can work a
screwdriver. :-)
