Unable to Paste into new email message

I have been searching all morning for a solution to this problem, I can copy
text from a web page or an email message and paste it into Notepad, but when
I try to paste the same text into a new email message nothing at all happens.
If I go to the edit menu and select 'Paste Special' and choose plain text
then it paste's just fine, obviously I dont want to have to do that every
time I paste....

any help would be appreciated.
 
Obviously, your new mail format is set to "plain text" - configure it to be
rtf or html and i bet you can paste anything in it :)

TOOLS / OPTIONS / MAIL FORMAT tab
 
or, not so obviously... It IS set to HTML.

also, the problem occurs in Word (2003) as well, unable to paste into it
from web pages, email messages, etc..
 
Certain Outlook add-ons can cause this. Start Outlook in safe mode
(outlook.exe /SAFE) and see if it still happens.
