Hi, I had to reformat/ reinstall (w2k) my pc recently.
I have restored my pst file from cd backup and unchecked the read-only
however when I try to open it, i get an error stating insufficient
permisions.
My user a/c on the old pc was in the admins group and I have created a new
one (same name in same group) but I'm aware that the security od will be
different.
Is there any way of resetting the permissions? I have also tried to take
ownership of the file but while it shows the new owner, I still cannot
access it.
I don't know if it makes any difference but I was on outlook 2k prior and
now have upgraded to outlook 2002
thanks

Use scanpst.exe to scan the file for errors.

-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Hi there, thanks for the response. I forgot to mention on my original post
that I have already tried that. Althought it did scan it it mentioned that
it could not get full access to the file. Any other ideas?
thanks

What NTFS permissions are set on the file? Add the user you are running and
make sure it has Full Permissions and try again.

Bit of an odd one this....but it's fixed now.
I removed all ntfs permissions, re-assigned them and retool ownership and
it's fine now.
Nothing different to what I did before. Oh well it's working now. thanks
for your help
