Unable to open JPG files in program of my choice

The other day, I double clicked on a JPG file and it opened in Microsoft
Image Viewer instead of PaintShop Pro 7, which until then was the program
associated with JPG files.

I have tried everything suggested by PaintShop Pro's experts to get JPG
files associated with their program instead of Microsoft Image Viewer. The
File Types list in Windows Explorer shows that JPGs are associated with
PaintShop Pro, but when I double-click on them in Explorer, the PSP program
opens, but cannot open the files.

If I use File/Open in PSP, I can open the files, and they display perfectly.

What's going on? And how can get Windows to stop meddling with the way I
want my computer work?

Changing the viewer to the one you desire is simple

Right click on a jpg file
Click on Open With
Go to Choose Program
Select the Microsoft Picture viewer or any you wish to be
default
Check the box Always use selected...........

You'll also note all jpg icons are now associated to that
viewer.

Thanks Richie.
JPG files are already associated with the program I want to use, PaintShop
Pro (PSP). I double checked the solution you suggestion, and Open With/
Always Open with This Program is checked. And I have confirmed that the link
to the program .EXE is correct, but I still cannot simply double click the
JPG files in Explorer, and have them open in PaintShop Pro. If I use Open
With, each image will open, but when doing a fair volume of work where I
need to open several files at a time, that gets pretty tedious.

This problem started suddenly, and first showed itself by opening JPGs in
Microsoft Image Viewer instead of PSP, the program that was associated with
JPGS.
Is it possible to delete Microsoft Image Viewer, which may be conflicting
with the program I want to use?

Orrie

I think I'm getting closer to a solution.

What about reinstalling PSP...Maybe that will cause PSP to reclaim
ownership of JPG files...
