I'm using an software application that is Access based, and when I upgraded
to WinXP, I'm getting an error message saying it can't open the database. We
checked all the permissions and they're fine. It works on other user's PC's
with WinXp; this is the only PC that's having problems. We also made sure
drivers were current. Any ideas on what else could be the culprit?

An Access newsgroup would have more expertise. Knowing the Access
runtime version may help, as well as the prior version of Windows.

Please note that Access is not part of Windows XP and never was part of any
Windows version. If you need to work with the database, you must install
Access separately (or part of the Office Suite) or install the run-time
modules in order for the database to be accessible.

Also note that the is a dedicated newsgroup for Access questions, on this very
same Usenet server.

I posted the question here because everything worked fine until we upgraded
to WinXP. We're assuming there might be settings with WinXP that might have
blocked access to the database. If you don't feel that's the case, I'll post
the question to an Access usergroup.

No. But evenso Access specialist users are more likely to know about
blocking issues for their particular program....
