Good luck Dave B - I posted this exact question on 6-4-06, and all I really
got was "Why would you want to do that?" Still don't know how to do it (and
still want to).

Whatever.

I'll keep an eye on your post - maybe we'll both find out.

You are wasting your time waiting in this newsgroup. The OP probably did
what was recommended - posted in an Excel newsgroup. I suggest you do
the same.

List of MS newsgroups:
http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

Or click on this link or copy/paste it into an IE Address Bar:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.excel.misc

You might. I don't.

I load the list of newsgroups on that server using OE. I do a search on
"excel" - no groups.

Posted on wrong list
Sorry about that

I know how to look for groups containing the word Excel on my server using
OE. To repeat that with my provider (or whatever) there are no Excel groups
on news.microsoft.com.

I note that they do appear on the other server I am currently using
news.btinternet.com.

Well, all I can tell you is that the Excel group shows up here using
msnews.microsoft.com as the news server. An MS news server died last
week and quite a lot of groups temporarily disappeared. Try refreshing
your group list. I'm sorry I can't give you exact instructions since I
don't use OE.

If the Excel group has really been discontinued (doubtful), then posting
in a general MS Office group would be the next step.

It has nothing to do with your provider. It has to do only with the news
server you are using. If you were using your ISPs news server, it might be
possible that it didn't carry Microsoft's Excel newsgroups, but you say you
are using the Microsoft server. I can assure you that the Microsoft new
server has many Excel newsgroups. I just checked here and I counted 31 of
them.

Try restting the list of newsgroups.
