Hi, please help! I received an error message about
windows explorer. I restarted my computer, but was unable
to load my computer from the logon screen. After I type
my password and press enter, it loads for a few seconds
and immediately logs me off. I can't even enter safe
mode. I saw some information about using the XP CD-ROM
and the recovery option, but I'm afraid I will do
something wrong. Can someone please tell me exactly what
I should do so I can avoid any complications? Please
respond as soon as possible. Thank you so much!

Here are directions to perform a repair installation of Windows XP. A
successfuly repair installation will keep you from losing other program
settings and avoids having to re-install all of your other software.

When I put in the Windows XP Operating System CD, nothing
happens. Am I supposed to press a key to load from the CD-
ROM drive?

If you have a DELL, you can hit F12 at the DELL logo screen and it gives you
a boot menu. Choose to boot to CD. Other systems may offer a similar boot
menu and indicate the key to hit for the menu.

If that doesn't work, you can enter your BIOS setup and change the boot
order. To enter BIOS setup, you typically hit F1, F2, F10, or DEL at the
first screen after turning it on. You will have to browse around on the
different BIOS screen pages and look for the boot category. Many BIOS's
will offer directions on that page to indicate how to move the CDROM up in
boot order priority. You want to have your CD above your hard drive.

Good Luck
