Hi
I have now spent 4 hours to fix this problem, please help.
I have a desk top running windows xp with AMD 2600+
athalon chip. All has been well. I upgraded to SP 2 and
still all was well. My wife tried to password protect a
file and did it and says all was well after that. Today I
noticed a flicker when I turned on my monitor with
windows strating up. It got stuck on Starting windows
page. I tried rebooting and the flicker went away, but
still no success. I booted in safe mode and did a system
restore that did not complete since it never made it to
the confirmation screen. After many tries, I now know
that the system does not log on to windows. I get a
password but even though it is correct, it gives me
the "unable to log..." message. I can then continue to
log on, but no device loads (even in safe mode no devices
load). I have tried reseting password, doing it in safe
mode under Admins. amomg other stuff. I did an internet
serach and no luck. Is this a virus or has the saftey
feature (security feature) is somehow messed up?
I appreciate any reply to my email acoount.
Thanks
