I am trying to resurrect a colleagues system that had
become totally unusable.
I have now got the system to the stage where it operates
reasonably well. However, when I try to load Anti-Virus &
other programs from either CD or from the web, after the
initial download the program fails to initialise or do
anything else, even if I load them through Safe Mode.
I also have problems trying to get into REGEDIT, MSCONFIG
& RESTORE from within Windows. Albeit I can get in to
some of these through Safe Mode.
What appears on the screen is a 'super fast' flash, of
what looks like the outline of the program shell, for a
very very very short time ! Most times you would miss it.
My question is, 'Are there any settings that can be
accessed to change the time this shell remains on screen
to allow other app's to start their initialisation
process ?
If I can alter this I can load the AV & Firewall programs
and hand it back to my colleague.
