unable to install updates- xp pro

I'm on serv. pack 1

Update is able to recognize what updates my pc needs but when it actually
goes to install them it comes back & says "windows was unable to to install
some updates" which the word "some" here means all of the updates it had
recognized that it needed.

I do recall it also saying something there was something on my comp. not
allowing the updates to happen as well. If that helps?
 
I agree... However, when I got to download it says I already have it?

Trust me , I don't have Service Pack 2.

Weird!?

What now?

That's rather unlikely when following the posted download link.

There is *no* version check at that download site. Good luck.
