"Unable to format the partition ERROR "on 4 different hard drives

Attempting to install XP Pro setup completes to end of a full format and says
"Unable to format partition , choose another partition to install Windows on.
Any ideas? I've writtin zeros to two of the HD's same error. I cannot
believe I have 4 bad drives 2 came out of an active system all are sata
drives.

You may be missing a driver for the harddisk controller, although I thought
setup then usually detects no harddisks at all.

Did a driver floppy come with the mainboard, or is there an image of such a
floppy on the driver CD?

Press F5 while setup is booting, when the prompt to do so appears at the
bottom of the screen. You will be prompted for a driver disk somewhat
later: insert the floppy, and select the right driver (if more than one
choice is offered).

Setup should then be able to continue and use the disk.
