I am running three computers on Windows XP, upgraded from
Win 2000; were networked through NetBEUI as I had the
same problem under W2k. Now that I cannot normally, use
NetBEUI I cannot connect these three computers: No
computer is seen bay any other, only one sees itself in
the "My Network Places".
I went through all the requied steps to create the
network and set the "find IP addresses" to auto.
Everything check OK; hardware and settings but I no
longer can connect to other computers. All the hardware
is connected just as it was when working under NetBEUI.
I am NOT using the Internet Connection Sharing feature
right now.
Ihave not yet tried to set IP addresses manually as it is
supposed to work/be selected automatically if I opt to do
so.
Thanks in advance for any help.

can you ping each other by ip? if yes, can you ping by name? posting
ipconfig /all here may help.

Got the same problem in office and at home with computers
neworked over wireless server. Can ping ip address, but
not name, can see computers but cannot connect (sharing
enabled), can find computer by name, but cannot connect.
Perhaps for the same reason cannot access shared printer.
Other computers cannot see mine at all. Here is ipconfig
output:

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : BBD5B
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Peer-Peer
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Thanks for advice.
