I am recieving this error message when I attempt to add a new user as
an Exchange account in Outlook. It happens when I enter my server name
and click "Check Name"
"The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a
name in the address list."
I am running SBS 2003 on the server, and the client is Windows XP with
Outlook 2003.
I double checked a couple of stupid things, such as did I really create
the user account (yes), did I create an Exchange mailbox for that
account (yes), and is it the correct server (yes).
I also attempted to create this user a mailbox on another machine -
didn't work. Also tried to create a new different user - with a test
name, but that also did not work, on that particular client or any
other machine with known good configurations.
When I looked into the user account on the server, I noticed that if
you click on the "Email Addresses" tab, the fields are completely
empty. If I compare that to other users with Exchange mailboxes, there
are SMTP entries and x400 entries. I attempted to enter those myself,
but this did not resolve the issue.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Please let me know if you need some
more information.
