Unable to 'find' all records

I currently have 398 records in my database. However, it often shows either
100, or 150 or 250 records (always in multiples of 50) If I use the find
function to look for a record I know is there it will say that it is not
found. If it is showing 1 of 150 records for example and I use the last
record button it will show 1 of 398.
Interestingly in the Find and Replace screen the 'look in' section is greyed
out.

If you are using 2007 click on Office button, Access Options, Current
Database, and scroll to the bottom. What number is in the box for "Don't
display list where more than this number of records reads:"?
Mine is set to 1000.

Mine says 1000 too.
