I now have over 300 messages in this folder and nothing seems to work. I
don't get any error messages as I see others have posted. None of the
"updates" work either. I get a message that the update does not apply to your
system. Any real help would be greatly appreciated. I have Windows Vista and
the e-mail is Windows Mail.

Flower, have you noticed that there have been hundreds and hundreds of
messages like yours? I finally found, just tonight, a solution and have
successfully emptied those folders. However, I have requested an Apple
laptop for Christmas and will never return to Vista after the disgraceful
product I have experience with this and other Vista problems. However, this
is what fixed the problem for me tonight: (1) type in a search for "Download
KB941090 Update"; (2) follow the instructions for the download; (3) you will
need to restart your computer for the changes to click in; (4) I was still
not able to empty the deleted items folder at first, but I WAS able to drag
all of the items over the junk mail folder which I could not do previously -
just highlight all of them and drag them over to the junk mail folder; (5)
hopefully, you will not be able to empty your junk mail folder as I was; (6)
as soon as all of the messages were out of the deleted items folder, I was
then able to delete new items - it seems like something just got unstuck when
I got everything out of that folder finally. I am very happy I was finally
successful, but I still will never forgive Microsoft for for providing such a
deplorable system and not standing behind their loyal customers of more than
a decade. I'm getting an Apple for Christmas, and I'll NEVER go back! Good
luck to you.

CORRECTION to my earlier response at (5). This should read "you should NOW
be able to ...." instead of "not be able to". Sorry.

That problem is caused by running a non-compatible antivirus.
As long as your antivirus is WM-compatible, you won't have that problem.

With Apple, you are locked in to buying all your upgrades through Apple,
and paying through the nose for it!

I watch the Apple forums regularly. I'll see you there! Maybe you will learn
that the grass is not greener on the other side of the road!
