This works for some similar problems, so download and install it with Windows Mail not running to see if it helps you: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090 If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. I don't know if it will delete the names of the deleted files, but it should at least make it possible to delete them.
