Unable to delete an e-mail from Outlook

Simply high-lighting the entry causes Outlook to close.
"Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We're sorry for the inconvenience" An error
report can be sent and has been sent. I've tried
restarting the computer and the problem persists.

Is there an alternate way of deleting messages outside of
the Outlook Express GUI?

Has anyone run into this problem before? What is is
likely due to?

Outlook and Outlook Express are not the same thing.

Is there an alternate way of deleting messages outside of
the Outlook Express GUI?
