Helloooo,
could anyone please explain what this folder of large files is and why
it can't be defrag'd even though they all show as fragmented.

It's 95Gb!!

Thanks in anticipation

Wow; my whole system32 folder is only 977 Meg. Are you sure it's Gig and
not Meg?

I don't see any such file on my own system, for what that's worth.

If you're a gamer though, that might explain it since some games use that
for their character dialogs, near as I can tell.
Why it won't defrag, I don't know. If you're short on disk space, it's
in use and/or locked, etc; lots of reasons possible but you haven't given
anythiung to work with that way.

Many thanks for the reply - It is Gig and I am not a gamer. Not a clue what
the folder is for although I understand it may be used by programs when in
use.

I have copied part of the defrag report detailing the problem files hoping
it will help.

15 3.96 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\003.part
1,987 5.20 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\014.part
174 5.54 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\006.part
96 5.92 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\010.part
115 7.86 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\002.part
143 9.66 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\004.part
68 15.45 GB \WINDOWS\system32\dlg\temp\009.part

Many thanks agin in anticipation

At it appears to be a temp file, put it in the recycle bin and reboot.
If all is well, empty the recycle bin and try doing a defrag.
