I have been trying to copy pictures from the "My
Pictures" file onto CD to clear up my hard drive. As
soon as I select the photos I want to copy and hit
the "copy to cd" function under the Picture Task, I get a
small white box with the following choices: Copy Here (in
bold), Move Here, Create Shortcuts Here, and Cancel.
None of these functions leads me to the CD Burning
Wizard. It's almost as if Windows doesn't recognize that
I have a burner?? Thanks so much for your time...

A known problem.
Usually it is due to the fact that you have other third party CD copying
software installed on your computer.
Many use Roxio to copy music to CD. If you have this, you must make sure
that you have the latest update by going to the Internet site of the
software manufacturer and downloading the latest update and installing it.
To check the version of Roxio you have, start it, click on help and click on
About ... A window will open giving you the version you have. Minimum
version to work with XP is 5.3.4.21a.
Same problem can be created when adding an external DVD burner drive. Again
check with the manufacturer of the DVD drive for latest software.
Another possibility is that your CD drive is not set for recording. Click on
My Computer, right click on the CD drive listed there, click on Properties.
A window will open. Click on the Recording tab. Check Enable CD recording on
this drive.
If XP is working properly, when you click on Copy to CD you should see a
message at the bottom of your screen, right hand side "You have files
waiting to be copied to CD". You click on this message and follow directions
on the screen.

I get the "You have files waiting to be written to the
CD" ballon, click on that, get CD-RW Drive screen, click
on "Write these files to CD", screen closes or I get
error message to send to MS. Can you suggest remedy? I
have no listing of a Roxio or other CD writer in my
program file.

I am having the same problem after installing a pioneer
A05 DVD burner. Although the drive is correctly labled
DVD RW, the device is recognised in systyem properties as
a standard CD/DVD rom drive. There is also no option for
set to recording or even a recording tab available. Any
ideas?

thanks Carl (please email direct)
