I have a 12 GB video (.avi) file that I'm attempting to
copy from my hard drive to an external hard drive for
back up purposes.

I receive an error message saying there is not enough
disk space even though there is more than enough.

Help!

Thanks!

If the external drive is formatted as a fat32 file system, you can only use
files up to 4 gig. Format the drive in the NTFS format and try again!

External drive - is it FAT32?

4GB file size limit.

Are you copying it to the root drive, if yes, try making a folder on that
drive and copy it to that folder.

this happens when you copy files to external devices,
because the copyfiles uses cache memory and system ram to
buffer the file for copying and two are filling before the
driver starts the external device. Try disabling any av
software before copying to the external drive, then write am
image file of the copy session and see if that is ok.

In 2 Timothy 3:1-7, there is a list of the qualities that
Unregenerate man will have in the last days. Is your quality
found there? If So, don't despair - Christ came to save His
people.

The external drive will be formatted in FAT 32 which has an absolute
limit of 4GB on the size of any file. It needs to be formatted in NTFS,
if you have means to do this. Depending on the drive, you may be able
to do so at Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select
Disk Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive.
R-click the existing partition, delete (note you will lose everything on
the drive) and then r-click to create a new one.
