Unable to contact domain controller

Hello. I am in the process of setting up a windows 2000 server, as a PDC, for my small office. I am unable to connect any workstations to the domain (domain controller cannnot be contacted). I am able to ping the server and resolve addresses. I appreciate any help in this matter. To further clarify - I am using a business DSL connection, through a netopia router
 
Gary,

Make sure that your clients ( all of them - DC, member server,
workstations ) point only to an Internal DNS Server and that any external
DNS Server information is found only in your Forwarders tab.
