Sorting out a friends machine running XP Pro which I suspect needs patching
and updating.
I've taken the machine to my house.
When I connect to my Netgear adsl router which is successfully running two
other clients, I can't get a connection though the port light is lit.
Neither can I ping the router.

As soon as I connect her original Belkin router everything is fine!

Are there some settings I need to change?

Regards

Are you using the static IP? posting the result of ipconfig /all may help.

Hi Bob

No static addresses. Network connection set up to use DCHP which it does
happily with the Belkin Router.
I'm actually wondering if I need to reset something on my Netgear router
though there haven't been any problems adding clients in the past.
I'm in the office at the moment where I have had a similar problem with a
client and it turned out the DCHP database was corrupt on the server!

Sometimes I should follow the advice I give to others!
I just turn the router off, waited and turned it back on.
Problem solved!
