Unable to change Overlay anymore

I have a Sapphire 9600SE, a couple of weeks ago I changed the Overlay
settings slighty, no problems. But now when I come to change them again
they're all greyed out and it won't let me restore the default? I have 6.14
drivers

You have to have overlay active (that is, some video file playing) to
change the settings (brightness, contrast, etc...)

Since when did this happen? I don't have the newest drivers and I can change
overlay settings, without having a vid file running. Sounds like a step back
to me.

It's been always (well, a long time anyway) like that for me. The vid
file doesn't have to play (it can be stopped), but the overlay window
needs to be open, which pretty much means you have to start playback
though you can click stop right away.

Perhaps you have some other setting different from me (most likely
somewhere in monitor settings, or graphic acceleration set to other then
maximum).
