Not aware of an XP issue of not being able to change a file extension......I
can change mine. Could you be more specific as to what file, extension,
etc. you are attempting to change and how?
Heirloom, old and needs an extension
It does not matter what type of file extension, XP uses the new file
extension I try to change it to as part of the new name and keeps the current
extension. Here is an example:
The file name is: file example 1.bak
If I try to change the extension to .mdb then the the new file name is:
file example 1.mdb.bak
I have researched this problem on the internet and found some info
confirming it, but no solutions. The server at my work block certain file
extensions they consider to be vulnerable to and popular in the use of
spreading viruses, so a work around to emailing databases is to change the
file extension to a generic file type and then changing the file extension to
..mdb after you recieve it. I have tried this on my system at home and XP
will not change the file extension.
